In May 1962, Lucky Starr released a song called I’ve Been Everywhere. In the somewhat novelty lyrics, a hitchhiker tells a truck driver all the places he’s been to in Australia. Over 60 years later, the song remains an Aussie icon but what do we know of the towns and cities that are mentioned? Time to find out in The I’ve Been Everywhere Project! In this 95-episode podcast series, hosted by Neil Butler and produced by Podversations, we’ll chat to Lucky and then head off to every single town he mentions in the song – from Oodnadatta in South Australia to Wollondilly in New South Wales. We’ll chat to a local and find out where the town or suburb is and what it’s famous for – apart from being mentioned in I’ve Been Everywhere.
